Telescope is a simple system that has profound benefits for fielding technical products. But how does it work?
Most generally put, Telescope operates as a quasi-intelligent "lab assistant" by assessing the skills of a student and providing them feedback on their use of your product. Here's what typically happens:
- Students learn about your product, either from your print materials, your current training, or from a series of Flash-based "show-me" tutorials that we help you record.
- Students log into a remote lab environment, usually through the Internet, and are presented a series of problem scenarios which require them to perform various tasks using your product.
- Your product's interfaces are projected to the student's computer where the students interact directly with your product to perform the scenario tasks.
- When the student indicates that they are done with a task, the Telescope server probes your product and decides if they have completed the scenario successfully. Telescope provides feedback as appropriate.
- Once the student has completed all the scenarios correctly, you can be assured that they are truly competent because they have successfully demonstrated performance of actual tasks required by their job.
